"IF you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."

African Proverb

Better together. Voyage has created a few different ways to build strong, life-giving relationships with others that will help us "go far." These avenues are known as LifeGroups, ImpactGroups, and Ministry Teams. These groups are designed to help us fulfill our core practices of UP (connecting with God), IN (connecting with each other), and OUT (connecting with the community).

LifeGroups

A LifeGroup is a small group of 6-10 adults who meet weekly to grow with each other and with God. We have three phases of LifeGroups at Voyage. These are groups that have a finite ending point - they meet for 6-8 consecutive weeks and then move to the next phase or into an ImpactGroup.

ImpactGroups

ImpactGroups are larger small groups(10-20 adults, plus kids). The overall aim is to become all that God intends for you to be. This may include Bible study, service projects, community events, and deep conversation. ImpactGroups balance their focus on UP, IN, and OUT.

Discipleship Pathway

Voyage's definition of a disciple is "a learner who loves God, loves people, and brings Jesus' way of life into this world." The goal of the Discipleship Pathway is that people look more like Jesus at the end of the process than they did when they started the process.

LifeGroups

Our LifeGroup sequence is built into three phases and a spiritual gifts assessment. There is some benefit to doing these three phases in sequence, however, any order works fine. A typical LifeGroup meeting lasts roughly 90 minutes to two hours. We ask that if you join a LifeGroup that you commit to the full 6-8 weeks so that everyone can realize the maximum growth in the group. The overall aim is to take your next step with God.

Starting Point (8 Weeks)

Our Starting Point groups are meant to help build relationships among Voyagers and create a safe space where you can have questions answered about your faith and God. All who attend Voyage are encouraged to start here!

Turning Point (6 Weeks)

Turning Point is our second phase of LifeGroups, and is meant to help you discover how you best connect with God. Participants will explore various spiritual disciplines and learn how to worship best in their own personal ways.

Network Spiritual Gifts (3 Weeks)

Network Spiritual Gifts is a 3 week course where you discover your own personal gifts and how you might use those gifts to serve the Church and God's people. Anyone at Voyage can take this course when they are offered twice per year.

Launching Point (6 Weeks)

Launching Point is the final section of our LifeGroups curriculum. This group helps you discern how you are wired to do outreach and by the end you will know what your next steps are to serving not only Voyage, but the world!

ImpactGroups

ImpactGroups are ongoing larger groups (10-20 adults, plus kids) who share a common outreach focus. The overall aim is to become all that God intends for you to be. ImpactGroups are committed to following Jesus Christ by intentionally focusing on these 3 things:
  • Growing spiritually (UP)
  • Living in community with one another (IN)
  • Reaching out individually and together (OUT)
ImpactGroups are open groups. They welcome new members at any time during the year!

How is this different from a LifeGroup?
LifeGroups are typically smaller groups and they focus primarily on connecting people with each other (IN) and with God (UP), and only slightly on serving others (OUT). ImpactGroups build upon the foundation laid in LifeGroups, but emphasis shifts to reaching out to others in an ongoing, relational way (OUT).
What does that look like?
The beauty of our ImpactGroup model is that there can be an ImpactGroup with an outreach focus on almost anything. We have ImpactGroups focused on families with kids, serving college students, racial reconciliation, retirees, those in recovery, and more!
