Anchor Youth

Anchored in hope; Awakened to Action

"we have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure" -Hebrews 6:19

Our youth ministry for students in grades 6-12 is called "Anchor." Anchor Youth meets on the first and third Sundays of each month. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our middle school and high school meetings will be combined and meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Meetings are in-person in the yard behind Voyage's parking lot. Masks are optional when we are meeting outdoors, but social distancing is encouraged.

Our meetings are a great mix of food, fun, friendship and faith. Anchor serves a wide variety of students with various faith backgrounds and from many different school systems throughout the greater Kalamazoo area. It is very likely your student will encounter one of their classmates at Anchor!

Our Anchor students will participate in various activities that will help develop their faith throughout the year. Traditionally we will have a lock-in at Voyage Church sometime in the fall, celebrate Christmas together during our annual Christmas party, attend Spring Hill Winter Retreat in February, participate in the World Vision 30 Hour Famine in March or April, among other great activities.

All Anchor Students must have a completed permission form on file to participate in Anchor Youth activities. Please download and complete the form below and send it with your student the first time they attend Anchor.

Get to know us: Adam and Alexis ARocho

Adam and Alexis Arocho started at Voyage Church on the initial design team in the Fall of 2012. Starting in 2013 Adam and Alexis ran the music and tech team - eventually leading to Adam working at Voyage full-time in music, communications, and marketing starting in 2016. In the Fall of 2018 Adam and Alexis took over leadership of Anchor Youth. They love working with the students in grades 6-12 at Voyage Church. Adam and Alexis believe that these years are incredibly formative in the spiritual lives of our students, and we are excited to be there to watch the Anchor students grow in their faith.

Adam and Alexis met while in the Bronco Marching Band at Western Michigan University. They have been married for 9 years. Adam and Alexis have a heart for students, music, and hospitality. Adam and Alexis live in Portage with their dog Buster. Do you have questions for Adam and Alexis? Complete the form below!

Sunday Mornings

Get Connected. Go Deeper.

We encourage Anchor Youth students to be involved on Sunday mornings. Many of our students serve on the tech team, music team, greeting team, and as helpers for our Kids Crew. Students are invited to participate in all aspects of our worship gatherings. We aim to empower Anchor Youth students to take ownership of their faith and use their gifts to serve God's people.
